Our fees

What does your fixed fee cover in immigration work?

The costs quoted here do not include:

  • Any Home Office fees for making the application. You will pay this to the Home Office directly as part of the application process.
  • Where the Home Office refuses your application, advice, and assistance concerning any appeal.

How long will my application take?
We cannot guarantee how long the Home Office will take to process your application. Read the current processing times.

We will normally be able to submit this type of application within 3 to 4 weeks of you instructing us, but we will let you know at the earliest opportunity if it is likely to take longer than this.

Who will carry out your work?

Emerald Solicitors is a recognized sole practice, recognized as a suitable body to carry out legal services and to provide immigration advice and immigration services for the purpose of Section 84(2)of the Immigration and
Asylum Act 1999. All work carried out is done by the Principal Solicitor or a Solicitor. When work is carried out by a paralegal, Trainee Solicitor, or legal executive it is supervised by either the Principal Solicitor or a Solicitor.

The head of our immigration department is the Principal of the firm.  She has over 20 years of experience in Immigration Law and Practice.  Her knowledge and experience started from initially working as a decision-maker/caseworker in the Home Office.

We offer fixed fees for our services in Nationality and Immigration Law matters. You are offered a free 20-minute discussion to assist you decide what your next step should be.

Our initial consultation fee for up to 1 hour of initial advice starts from £150.00 in straightforward cases across all our matters.

(All our fees exclude VAT unless specifically stated. Where VAT is charged it would be at 20% of the cost)

All Disbursements across all matters (that is money we pay third parties/experts relating to your matter, on your behalf) are subject to VAT where stated at 20% of the cost.

Our fees do not include your Home Office fees, your appeal or court fees or any costs for an expert including a DNA, medical, senior social worker expert, or a Barrister. All costs for Experts include VAT at 20% where stated.

Home Office fees are changed yearly and displayed on their website (no VAT)

What does your fixed fee cover in immigration work?
Advising on relevant immigration rules, law, guidance, policy, and caselaw to your matter. Completing the application form, advising, and assessing relevant supporting evidence. Preparing detailed supporting representations, and providing updates until a decision is received. Advising on the outcome of the application and next steps in the matter. We ask that you send us your supporting documents by email attached as scanned copies.

Timescales for immigration work: We can promptly move between the stages for your work in about 2 to 3 weeks if all relevant documents and information are provided to us in a timely manner. We refer you to the Home Office timescales for receiving decisions for your application which changes from time to time.

FAMILY LAW MATTERS INCLUDING DIVORCE AND CHILDREN MATTER IS CHARGED ON AN HOURLY RATE

Hourly Rates
Principal Solicitor £250.00 per hour
Trainee Solicitor £200 per hour
Experienced Paralegal £120 per hour
Timescales for a divorce matter or a children matter from start to finish is typically difficult to determine due to the court timescales that are relevant to the matters. A straightforward divorce matter may take under 7 months. However, timescales are affected or extended by the time it takes to collate relevant documents, receive feedback from the other side, social services, CAFCASS and the time to have a matter listed for hearing.

Our fees do not include your court fees or any costs for an expert including a medical expert or a Barrister. All costs for Experts / Barristers include VAT at 20%

WILLS
Simple Wills from £170
Simple Mirror Wills From £ 270
Our prices quoted for simple, or mirror Wills are only for the drafting work. We expect you to pay a consultation fee. Also, you will be charged at the hourly rate for amendments to be made until the final copy.
We advise you concerning how to securely store the current copy of your Will
